What these terms cover
These are the terms and conditions on which Second Hand Western Saddles supply to you. By accessing our website and/or ordering Goods through us, you agree to be bound to these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully, if you are not in agreement with them please do not use our website.
1. Information About Us and How to Contact Us
1.1 Who we are.
We are Second Hand Western Saddles, Honeycomb Cottage, Wheelbarrow Town, Stelling Minnis, Kent CT4 6AH. Second Hand Western Saddles is run by Alison Hargreaves and is an equestrian company providing agent services between sellers and buyers of second hand western saddles.

If we have to contact you, we will do so by telephone by email or by writing to you at the postal address you provided to us in your order.
2. Buying a saddle through Second Hand Western Saddles
We sell western saddles on behalf of Third Parties for a commission fee. By purchasing through the website you accept that we are acting as an agent in arranging and processing your order on behalf of the third party. We are the agent liaising between you and the Third Party and that we shall receive a percentage of the sale included in the total charges you pay.
2.1 How we will accept your order
Our acceptance of your order will take place at point of payment.
2.2 If we cannot accept your order
If we are unable to accept your order, we will inform you of this in writing and issue a full refund of any monies paid. This might be because of issues beyond our control or because we have identified an error in the price or description of the product or because we are unable to meet a delivery deadline you have specified.
2.3 Products may vary slightly from their pictures and sizes or descriptions
The images of the products on our website are for illustrative purposes only. Although we have made every effort to display the colours and/or marks, fading and scratches accurately, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of a device’s display. Your product may vary slightly from those images. The size and or description of used saddles is subjective and although assessed by a saddle fitter may vary to your saddle fitter’s or indeed your opinion. Please DO NOT purchase a saddle if you are not prepared to accept variations on these factors.
2.4 Sold as seen
All saddles are sold as seen on the website. It is your responsibility to read the advert fully and make further inquiries to us should you need further information.
2.5 Payment and saddle trials
Payment for the Order must be made in full before the saddle is dispatched. If checking out on the website, once your payment has been received you will receive an order confirmation. This confirmation means that the details of your order will be transferred to us, and we will begin processing your order.
2.6 We only offer the trial service to the UK.
We are only able to offer the trial and return service in the UK.
2.7 Trial period
Trials are permitted for a 14-day trial within the UK. The 14 day period starts on the day that the saddle is delivered to your address. The saddle is your responsibility during the trial period and excessive wear, any marks or any damage will result in a deduction from your refund due to you should you return the saddle.
2.8 Template service
Using our template service does not guarantee that a matched saddle will be a perfect fit. You should get a qualified saddle fitter to check the fit of the saddle during your 14-day trial to ensure the saddle is sound, fit for purpose, and suitable for both horse and rider.
2.9 Trial Policy
Trials are permitted on a 14-day trial within mainland UK. This trial period is inclusive of weekends and public holidays.
Saddles are dispatched for trial within 7 days upon receipt of full payment. Your trial begins on the day you receive the saddle.
It is advisable to get a qualified saddle fitter to check the fit of the saddle during your 14-day trial to ensure the saddle is sound, fit for purpose, and suitable for both horse and rider.
It is your responsibility to have the saddle checked during this period. We will not be held liable for any saddle fitting costs associated with the fitting or trial of the saddle.
Throughout the Trial Period the risk of loss, theft, damage or destruction of the saddle shall pass to you and it shall remain your sole risk and for such further period before which the saddle is redelivered and received by Us (‘the Risk Period’). We advise that you take adequate measures to protect against these eventualities.
2.10 Returning a saddle from trial
If the saddle is not suitable you must notify us by day 14 of the trial by emailing us at saddles@western-saddles.co.uk
Within 7 days of notifying us you should arrange return of the saddle to us using a reputable carrier, fully insured and tracked.
Once the saddle has been received back, the saddle will be inspected, and your refund will be processed within 7 working days. Please allow a further 3-5 working days for the refund to show in your account.
We reserve the right to refuse to accept a return of a saddle following trial which has incurred damage during the trial, or during return transit.
You are responsible for the saddle until it has been safely received by us. If the saddle is lost or damaged during return in transit by the courier, then you are held liable and must make a claim with your chosen courier.
2.11 Trial Charges
If you return a saddle you are liable for carriage charges for the saddle back to us. This should be a reputable carrier, fully tracked and insured.
You will be refunded the price you paid less a fee of £60 to cover outward postage and administrative/handling fees. If you are not happy with these terms you should not proceed to purchase a saddle and make use of the trial period.
2.12 Acceptance of your saddle
You shall be deemed to have accepted the saddle as suitable for your requirements and fit for purpose, therefore concluding the sale if.
2.13 Faults
We advertise saddles in good faith that they are sound and fit for purpose. However, it is your responsibility to ensure the saddle is safe, sound and fit for purpose by having it checked by a qualified saddle fitter during the trial period. We will not be held responsible for any saddle fitting costs associated with the fitting of the saddle. We accept no liability or responsibility for saddles found to be faulty outside of the trial period.
2.14 Virtual Saddle Fitting
Any information, guidance or advice given by any member of our team via phone, email or virtual saddle fitting appointment cannot be guaranteed. Without physically seeing, feeling and assessing a saddle on the horse in person we are unable to guarantee the fit of any saddle recommended. We advise based on our knowledge and experience. However, it is up to you to make the final decision on fit or employ a qualified professional saddle fitter to check the fit of the saddle.
3. Selling your saddle with Second Hand Western Saddles
3.1 Registration fee
A registration fee of £40 is payable when we accept your application to sell the saddle. The registration fee is non-refundable. The fee covers 12 months, a renewal fee of £30 is payable every 12 months. There will be no partial refunds of the fee if the saddle is sold quickly
3.2 Shipping the saddle to us
As the owner of the saddle, you are responsible for costs incurred shipping the saddle to us. You are liable for the saddle until it has been received by us – please use a courier which is tracked and insured and ensure you package the saddle adequately.
3.3 What we won’t accept
Saddles should be received clean and fit for purpose. We do not accept saddles with broken trees, damaged rigging or poor quality leather. We do not accept treeless, synthetic or poor quality unbranded western saddles. If we feel that a saddle is poor quality or not fit for purpose it will be returned to you.
3.4 Trial period
We offer a trial period on saddles. This trial period is for 14 days and gives the customer time to assess the fit of the saddle for both horse and rider. Customers are held responsible for damage incurred to the saddle during the trial period. However general wear may occur. The full amount of the saddle is paid by the customer before the saddle is released on trial and deductions are made to the buyers refund for any damage incurred.
3.5 Storage
Whilst the saddle is in our possession it will be securely stored, insured for the value you stated and cleaned if necessary.
3.6 Saddle price
You set the price of the saddle. We will advertise the saddle at this price plus the cost of postage to the Customer and an administrative fee. You can make changes to the price of the saddle at any time by emailing us on saddles@western-saddles.co.ukunless it is already on trial with a potential buyer.
3.7 Time to sell
We aim to sell your saddle as quickly as possible. However, there is no set time frame as to when your saddle will be sold. Should you change your mind, and request your saddle back the carriage charge is at your expense. The registration fee is non-refundable irrespective of how long we have had your saddle.
3.8 When the saddle is sold
When the saddle is sold we will pay you the price you set with the commission fee of 25% or £100, whichever is greater, deducted. Our commission fees are fixed and non-negotiable.
Payment is issued to you via Bank transfer, within 7 days of the Customer completing the 14 day trial and confirming that they will keep the saddle.
4. Payment
4.1 Price Amendments
We reserve the right to amend prices at any time without notice.
4.2 Price accuracy and errors
We endeavour to ensure prices on the website are accurate at all times. In the event a saddle price is incorrect on the website, we will notify you to find out if you wish to continue with the purchase at the correct price or cancel the order. The order will not be processed until we have spoken to you to confirm if you would like to proceed at the correct price or cancel your order. If we do not hear from you within 7 working days, the order will be cancelled, and any payment received will be refunded.
4.3 Payment method
Payments must be made by the payment methods displayed on the website. We take reasonable care to keep the details of the order and payment secure. In the event of negligence on our part, we will not held liable for any loss or damage suffered by you if a third party makes unauthorised access to any data you provide whilst accessing or ordering from the website.
4.4 Payments made via PayPal
We are happy to accept PayPal payments when requested. However, if an order is paid for via PayPal and subsequently cancelled, the 3.4% fees incurred to process the transaction are non refundable.
4.5 Your Rights to Make Changes
If you wish to make a change to the saddle you have ordered, please contact us. We will let you know if the change is possible. If it is possible we will let you know about any changes to the price of the saddle, the timing of supply or anything else which would be necessary as a result of your requested change and ask you to confirm whether you wish to go ahead with the change.
5. Providing the Products
5.1 Delivery costs
The costs of delivery where applicable will be as displayed to you on our website. If the carrier fails to delivery on time, the delivery charge will still be applicable.
5.2 When we will ship the saddle
We will deliver the saddle to you as soon as reasonably possible, we aim to post it within 7 working days but cannot guarantee this. If the saddle cost is over £2,500 delivery may take longer as we’ll use a specialist carrier.
5.3 We are not responsible for delays outside our control
If our supply of the saddle is delayed by an event outside our control then we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know and we will take steps to minimise the effect of the delay.
5.4 If you do not re-arrange delivery
If delivery to you fails and you do not re-arrange delivery or collect from a delivery depot we will contact you for further instructions and may charge you for storage costs and any further delivery costs. If, despite our reasonable efforts, we are unable to contact you or re-arrange delivery or collection we may end the contract.
5.5 When you become responsible for the goods
The saddle will be your responsibility from the time we deliver the product to the address you gave us or you or a carrier organised by you collect it from us.
5.6 When you own goods
You own the saddle once we have received payment in full.
6. Information
Any information or guidance produced by Second Hand Western Saddles is as an information reference only for your interest, and should not be taken as a recommendation or replacement for the proper knowledge and advice that can be given by a professional in their given profession.
7. How we will use your personal information
We will use the personal information you provide to us:
(a) to supply the products to you
(b) to process your payment for the products
8. Sharing your personal information
We will only give your personal information to third parties where the law either requires or allows us to do so or where you have asked us to provide your details to saddle fitters for them to provide a saddle fitting service.
